Swap out categories automatically!

Blogging Bites #78

Hey Reader!

Ever wish your seasonal recipes would automatically rotate throughout the year?

Well, Feast recently made this possible within their plugin! It's called Scheduled Categories 🎉

This new feature lets you assign dates to categories. Then, once you add their Scheduled Categories block to a page, those categories will automatically rotate with the assigned dates!

As someone who manually swaps out their seasonal/trending recipes every few months, this is going to save me quite a bit of time 😅

Before we jump in, here are a few general refreshers on categories!

Also real quick, I just want to note that this newsletter is not sponsored. I am a Feast affiliate because I truly love their products and think they make our lives easier (especially with things like this new feature!), so this email does contain some affiliate links.

Feast has a tutorial on their website showing how to use their Scheduled Categories, but I've gotten some requests to show how I'm using it.

So, I recorded myself setting them up on my own blog! 😊

I made it so that I have a category scheduled at all times throughout the year, but you definitely don't have to do this!

If there are dates when no category is scheduled, the Scheduled Categories block just won't appear on the front end.

On the contrary, make sure you don't overlap any dates!

Want to set this up but don't have a Feast theme? I can't speak on compatibility, but I do know some food bloggers use the Feast plugin with a non-Feast theme, so that might be something to look into.

Regardless, it's important to keep your seasonal triangle up-to-date year-round so your readers can easily access your seasonal recipes!

Happy blogging!
