Hello there!

Real quick - thanks so much for being here! I love seeing your feedback and covering your questions in these! Here's one that popped into my IG DMs:

Such a great question! So today I'm walking through wtf to fill out back there 🤪

It's probably no surprise that Casey Markee taught me (during my audit) that blog posts aren't the only pages that should be optimized. Your category pages should be, too!

Here's what you should be including:

1. Breadcrumbs
2. A descriptive H1 title
3. 1-2 short paragraphs describing the category
4. A few links to some popular recipes that fall into that category
5. A featured image

For example, check out my breakfast recipes category page and recipe index (for the featured image)👇

Now, where do you add these on the back end?

#1 Breadcrumbs

I have a Feast theme, so these settings are within the Feast plugin.

#2-5 are all edited in each category page's settings. You can get there by clicking "Edit Category" at the top of each category page while logged into WP, or by going to Posts → Categories in your WP sidebar.

🔥Tip: Try to include specific, "rankable" keywords in the archive headline and intro text.

🔥Tip: Add a clear, non-script font title text on the image (I use Canva) and make it 1200x1200 pixels.
