Hey, Reader!

Are you rating your own recipes? It sounds like a weird thing to do, but it's actually recommended by experts in our field!

The recipe rating is a recommended part of the recipe schema, and you want it to be as complete as possible! Missing recommended parts of your recipe's structured data can cause an "issue" in your Google Search Console and prevent your recipe from ranking as high as possible. (Side note: don't worry about video or Guided Recipes)

If you Google a recipe and see that the top results don't have any star ratings shown, you'll have a small advantage over them by publishing your recipe with a star rating.

If you're using WPRM for your recipe cards, your settings may be defaulted to requiring a comment to leave a rating. I'm sharing my settings to help you fix that!

Go to your WPRM settings and click on the "Star Ratings" settings under "Interactivity".

From there you'll want to toggle the "User Ratings" setting so that it's on. This will allow anyone to rate your recipe just by clicking on the stars!

Next, I recommend changing the "Force visitors to leave a comment" setting to "If they want to give 4 stars or less". This will require users to share a reason as to why they didn't think your recipe deserved 5 stars.

I hope you found this helpful! Feel free to reach out with any questions & enjoy the rest of your week! 😊

Happy blogging!
