Hey Reader,
This week's newsletter is short & quick with a few tips on how to improve your blog post click-through rates (CTR)!
What is CTR?
CTR is the percentage of people who click on your link after seeing it.
For this newsletter, we're going to talk about when they see it in Google, specifically.
Where can I find my CTR data?
You can find your blog's CTR data in Google Search Console.
Under Performance > Search Results, you'll see Total Clicks, Total Impressions, Average CTR, & Average Position up top.
Make sure the Average CTR is checked on, and then its data will populate in the graph & table below.
What's important for CTR?
Let's think about it - when you're Googling something, what makes you click on the link that you do?
Does the title grab your attention?
Does what you're looking for stand out in the meta description?
Does the photo stand out among the rest of the results?
These are 3 things users see for each search result. They're your first chance to grab the user's attention and get them to click on your post!
So, if you're noticing that impressions are high but CTR is low, try tweaking them!
Make sure the title, meta description, and featured image are click-worthy and match user intent!
Sometimes we get so caught up in analyzing what's inside the blog post that we forget to pay attention to the 3 things that capture our reader's attention before they even make it in.
Of course, Google has a mind of its own so sometimes it just shows whatever it wants 🙃 but we can at least do our best to optimize our titles, meta descriptions, and images.
I'll dig into this even deeper in a future blog post, but I hope you found these quick tips helpful!
